T/4 Robert Francis Fullom Service# 33159721 82nd Airborne/507th PIR 'B' Company/Radio Operator T/4 Fullom was born on January 29, 1918 in Corry, Pennsylvania and was killed in action on June 15, 1943 during the invasion of Normandy, near the village of LaBonneville. T/4 Fullom is the son of Francis Charles Fullom [ b. 11-7-1898 in PA and died 5-15- 1975 in Pa] the proprietor of an upholstery business and the son of Hildur Lindquist Fullom [b.8-21-1897 in NY and died 5-11-1991 at the age of 94 in PA]. The 1930 US Census for Jamestown, Chautaqua County, New York show Robert residing at # 53 McKinley Ave. with his parents and sister Virginia [b. ? died?]. T/4 Fullom enlisted in the US Army on Feb 26 1942 at New Cumberland, PA. His enlistment record states that Fullom had completed 4 years of High School, was a Linotype Operator and was married. Fullom married Jean H Kuhn sometime prior to his enlistment and on Nov 9, 1942 his only child, a son, Eric Fullom was born. T/4 Fullom jumped into Normandy on June 6 1943 from C-47 [tail# 4292743] plane 'chalk' # 38, # 9 in drop order. T/4 Fullom was killed in action on June 15 1943 near the village of La Bonneville, Normandy, France and is interred at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France at Plot 'F' Row '9' Grave '30' T/4 Robert F. Fullom was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the Croix de Guerre Unit Citation [French], the European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star and Arrowhead, the WWII Victory Medal, The WWII Honorable Service Lapel Button, the Parachute Badge, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Presidential Distinguished Unit Emblem.
